Seahorse
The Seahorse is a Fish whose scientific name is Hippocampus.
There are about 35 species worldwide, ranging from 2.5 cm to 35 cm in size. I
n their natural state they can live up to 6 years.
It is improbable that they can survive for more than a year in an aquarium. The female lays about 200 eggs which the male
carries until they hatch.
It is estimated that roughly 20 million live and dead Seahorses were traded internationally in 1993.
Mostly Seahorses are used for medicines and aphrodisiacs in Asia.
They are especially in demand in China for medical purposes.
The Seahorse has an ability to change colour that is superior to that of the Chameleon.
This is for reasons of safety and it is also some kind of emotional reaction to other Seahorses. |
