CELTIC KNOT
The Celtic mystique, with its emphasis on the Otherworld,is widely quoted but little understood.
The Celts were aware of the Sidh, the tall, shining ones,or the opalescent, lit from
within.
This paganism was subsumed in Christianity and the immediacy of the Otherworld receeded.
The Celtic Cross, with its recognisable shaft, arms and ring is embellished with intricate decorations
which are representations of much older, cruder and very powerful symbols of basic life forces. This Cross, like
others, has cross-cultural significance of Protection and Goodnesss.
The Celtic Knot is a reflection of the complexity of Self, the interconnectedness and never-ending
cycle of life. As the mantra or rosary aid contemplation, so does focussing on the winding
of the knot aid meditation.
The Celtic Knot is associated with Happy Love and Friendship. |
