Knives made from Damascus and Mokume Gane
Knife collectors will love seeing something brand new in the custom knife arena. These knives are made in South Africa using African masks and African Symbols. The blades are made from Damascus steel or stainless steel. Most of the knives are dress knives and are meant to be worn on a night out. The sterling silver sheaths are handmade whilst the handles are cast using the lost wax casting process. The handles were carved in wax by artist George Skews and the blades and silver work by Wayne Skews. The Damascus blades were purchased in billet form and hand cut and ground.
The knives are small - from 5cm - 15cm and offer knife collectors a brand new style of knife. They make a fantastic gift for a man - which man does not like knives? So for unique men's gifts this is a winner.
The knives are not meant as hunting knives or any other such utility - they are purely to look at - that said - the knives are made like any other knife - hardened, sharpened and ready for any action - although that action should be small - like cutting biltong or jerky. Great for cutting a steak if you like to show off. The knives were designed as "men's Jewellery". Often men battle to find adornment - especially men's jewelry that is masculine as well as classy. We take on custom work - send us your idears and we'll have a look.
