Wayne Skews has been in the jewellery field for 22 years. He is a member of the jewellery council and has, in the past, served on the executive committee of the manufacturers association for 3 years.

African Gold has been in operation for 10 years supplying and manufacturing jewellery and gifts to the trade and retail stores. The company (previously Sweet Thorn Studios) specialises in African Jewellery in precious metals, corporate gifts and collectables.

Our policy with regard to outsourcing is to look for local suppliers - if possible from previously disadvantaged groups. As far as possible, raw materials and parts are made in South Africa.

Our customers include The Tanur Jewellery Group - 011 783 7191, Tigers Eye Group - 011 334 8883, Arthur Kaplan Jewellers, and we have supplied companies such as Walt Disney in the United States.

Our current project is sponsoring a company called Goldmyths. This business is owned and managed by Benedictor Mdlomba. All equipment has been sponsored by Trilogy and a mentoring programme helps with daily functions including IT, production techniques and sales.
